Has a recent upgrade in your estate made a difference to you and your loved ones? We invite you to share how enhanced amenities, facilities, or community spaces have improved your daily life.

Perhaps it’s a fitness corner that keeps you active, a playground where your children have made new friends, or a shared space that brings neighbours closer together – whatever your experience, we would love to hear it!

How to Enter:

  • Please submit either: an Essay (up to 300 words), or a Video (up to 2 minutes) – including photos of the amenity / facility / community space
  • All submissions must be in English.
  • For essay submission: Email your entry to enquiry@jrbbtc.org.sg with the subject “Stories From The Heartlands”. Please include your name, contact number, and postal code in your submission.
  • For video submission: Post your video on social media and tag us (Facebook: Jurong-Clementi-Bukit Batok Town Council / Instagram: @jrbbtc). Please DM us your name, contact number, and postal code separately.
  • Closing date: 31 July 2026.

Prize Structure

A total of 12 winners will be selected to receive $50 NTUC Vouchers!

Judging Criteria

Entries will be judged based on:

  • Quality – Clarity, structure and effectiveness of writing
  • Depth – Meaningful reflection and personal insight
  • Story Richness – Creativity, storytelling and emotional impact

Terms and Conditions

  1. Organiser

The “Stories From The Heartlands” Competition (“Competition”) is organised by Jurong-Clementi-Bukit Batok Town Council (“JRBBTC” or “Organiser”).

  1. Eligibility
    • The Competition is open exclusively to residents living within the Jurong-Clementi-Bukit Batok Town Council estate.
    • Participants below 18 years of age must obtain parental or guardian consent before participating.
    • Employees of JRBBTC and their immediate family members are not eligible to participate.
  1. Submission Requirements
    • Entries must be written in English.
    • Participants must submit original work that has not been previously published or submitted to other competitions.
    • Entries must not contain offensive, defamatory, discriminatory, unlawful or inappropriate content.
    • The Organiser reserves the right to reject any entry that does not comply with the submission requirements.

  1. Judging Criteria

Entries will be assessed by a judging panel appointed by JRBBTC based on the following criteria:

Depth Meaningful reflection and personal insight
Story Richness Creativity, storytelling ability and emotional impact

The judges’ decision is final and no correspondence will be entertained regarding the results.

  1. Prize Structure
  • A total of twelve (12) winners will be selected.
  • Prizes are non-transferable and non-exchangeable for cash.
  • JRBBTC reserves the right to substitute any prize with another item of similar value without prior notice.

7.Intellectual Property Rights

  • Participants retain ownership of their original submissions.
  • By participating in the Competition, participants grant JRBBTC a non-exclusive, royalty-free, perpetual and worldwide license to use, reproduce, publish, display, adapt and distribute the submitted entries for publicity, educational, marketing and community engagement purposes.
  • JRBBTC may publish winning and selected entries on its website, social media platforms, newsletters, publications and other communication channels without further compensation.

8. Personal Data Protection

By participating in the Competition, participants consent to JRBBTC collecting, using and disclosing their personal data for the purposes of administering the Competition, contacting participants, announcing winners and publicising the Competition.

  1. Disqualification

JRBBTC reserves the right to disqualify any participant who:

  • Provides false or incomplete information;
  • Submits plagiarised content;
  • Breaches these Terms and Conditions; or
  • Engages in conduct that may compromise the integrity of the Competition.
  1. General
  • JRBBTC reserves the right to amend these Terms and Conditions at any time without prior notice.
  • JRBBTC reserves the right to cancel, suspend or modify the Competition if circumstances require.
  • Participation in the Competition constitutes acceptance of these Terms and Conditions.
